South End Buttery

The Buttery began in 2005 when the founders decided to open a small neighborhood coffee shop after becoming frustrated with the lack of good food and coffee alternatives in the South End. A former criminal prosecutor and an investment manager started South End Buttery with little food business expertise but a huge love and appreciation for superb food and service in the days before social media, food bloggers, and online review sites. Equator's founders were moved by this discovery to start roasting and selling coffee from their garage in Marin County in 1995. Kilogram Tea is committed to sustainability, taste, and freshness, treating tea as a star in its own right rather than a subpar substitute for coffee. At The Buttery, supporting local and national causes is part of our core business model. We strive to help raise community awareness and funds for a wide range of local and national causes. Our pet charities include the Animal Rescue League of Boston, Community Servings, Victory Programs, Boston Bakes for Breast Cancer and Share Our Strength.
