Pizzeria Uno

Ike Sewell invented deep dish pizza and founded a new style of restaurant at the corner of Ohio and Wabash in Chicago in 1943. Ike presented a pizza unlike any other that has been offered before. A buttery, 'out-of-this-world' crust with a towering, fruit-pie-like edge. He came up with a recipe that blended authentic Italian flavors, high-quality tomatoes, and more cheese than anyone could imagine, then baked it for over an hour. When they tried it, they wanted more, and lines have been developing to get into the restaurant ever since.
