New City Microcreamery

New City Microcreamery, which opened in 2015 and has been rated the Best Ice Cream in Massachusetts*, is a metropolis of superb confections, silky creams, and delightful sweets. We've brought the ice cream of our wildest dreams to reality. We developed something we believe in: our childhood fantasy of a utopian society ruled by ice cream, and most importantly, it's delicious. It's fantastic. The cream is frozen using a liquid nitrogen method. We pour the homemade ice cream base into our mixer after it has soaked in its flavor for 24 hours in our walk-in refrigerator. First, we progressively shift the base and then freeze it with liquid nitrogen that is more than minus 300 degrees.The mixer's speed is then increased to aerate the frozen cream, giving it a lighter texture and mouthfeel. The use of super-cold liquid nitrogen results in a smaller ice crystal, giving it the smooth New City feel we desire. Plus, it's a great show. *MassLive voted it first among all ice cream shops in the state in an independent review based on flavor, texture, inventiveness, and overall service.
