Forno Rosso
The History of Forno Rosso
Nick Nitti is of Italian descent and lived in Italy for many years during his childhood. As a child, Nick recalls trips to Italy with his family, stopping at every small town and cramped village in his father's Fiat Uno. This is where Nick discovers the true beauty of Italian cuisine. One day, on his way to Pompeii, his father stopped in Naples, and he ate his first Napoletana pizza in a small pizzeria in the center of Naples. You will never forget your first bite. After returning to Chicago for many years, Nick was finally able to return to Naples in 2012 to study the art of pizza making. There he trained with one of the best pizzaiolos in Naples. After completing all his certifications with a VPN, Nick returned to Chicago to open the Forno Rosso Pizzeria Napoletana on Harlem Avenue. In 2016, Nick opened his 2nd location in Chicago's booming West Loop, on Randolph Street.
Forno Rosso Pizzeria Napoletana is part of (VPN) Verace Pizza Napoletana. Le VPN is the American delegation of the VERA PIZZA NAPOLETANA Association, an international nonprofit organization founded in the mid-1980s by a group of Neapolitan Pizzaiolos (pizzerias) seeking to hone the art of making Pizza Napoletana cuisine.
